The Ring Road is a core component of Hamilton City Council’s plan to deliver an integrated transport system to the city. Project Details: The Wairere Drive four-laning project involves the widening and improvement of the 2.1km section of Wairere Drive (Pukete Road to River Road) from two lanes to four, signalised intersection construction and the addition of a clip-on pedestrian and cyclist path to the existing Pukete Bridge. The River Road intersection improvements involve the removal of River Road roundabout and centre islands and transforming the area into a signalised intersection. The Wairere Drive Extension from Crosby Road to Ruakura Road project completes a section of the Hamilton Ring Road Project where two lanes on each approach are provided, construction of two over-bridges (one road, one rail), three new pedestrian underpasses, a new roundabout and a new signalised intersection. The Peachgrove Road/Te Aroha Road Intersection Upgrade and Ruakura Road Upgrade involves the construction of a new signalised intersection where Wairere Drive meets Ruakura Road, the upgrade of the existing Peachgrove Road/Te Aroha Street intersection, and the four-laning of Ruakura Rd between the two intersections.
